I can confirm I saw this 95% sure. the alleged time was 21h40. I went to a restaurant tonight and walked back home, by the time I got there, the time was 21h30. I rolled a cigarette and then smoked it at the window.
for me.. what I saw was nothing more than a Chinese Lantern, could see no trail, and had a yellow/redish color. It gradually loosed light intensity as would a lantern when it dies out. So I thought nothing of it.
However the timing was the same and I was looking towards the north.
( note that I am in Plymouth,Devon, South of England )

anybody from south of England see the same?

I saw it through my window in Edinburgh. I didn't think it was "unusually slow" for a meteorite. At first, I didn't know what it was because it was so large and bright, but after thinking about it I concluded it was a meteorite due to it's tail, which is what it turned out to be. It was pretty spectacular though, and I can see why some people phoned the police with fears that it was a burning plane. It seemed to be a lot lower and closer than it actually was.
