Actual Video - UFO Battle Over Los Angeles: 1942

One of my favorite UFO cases - The Battle Over Los Angeles in 1942.

What was hovering above Los Angeles on February 25, 1942?   MSNBC.com's Dara Brown has the story on this 65th anniversary of the 'Battle of L.A.'

The Battle of Los Angeles is the name given by contemporary news agencies to a sighting of one or more unidentified flying objects, which took place from late February 24 to early February 25, 1942.  Eyewitness reports of an unknown object or objects over Los Angeles, California, triggered a massive anti-aircraft artillery barrage. The Los Angeles incident occurred less than three months after America's entry into World War II as a result of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

The following are excerpts from the primary front page story of the LA Times on February 26th. Note that there is not a SINGLE description of the object, even though is was clearly locked in the focus of dozens of searchlights for well over half an hour and seen by hundreds of thousands of people:

Army Says Alarm Real  Roaring Guns Mark Blackout

Identity of Aircraft Veiled in Mystery; No Bombs Dropped and No Enemy Craft Hit; Civilians Reports Seeing Planes and Balloon

Overshadowing a nation-wide maelstrom of rumors and conflicting reports, the Army's Western Defense Command insisted that Los Angeles' early morning blackout and anti-aircraft action were the result of unidentified aircraft sighted over the beach area. In two official statements, issued while Secretary of the Navy Knox in Washington was attributing the activity to a false alarm and "jittery nerves," the command in San Francisco confirmed and reconfirmed the presence over the Southland of unidentified planes. Relayed by the Southern California sector office in Pasadena, the second statement read: "The aircraft which caused the blackout in the Los Angeles area for several hours this a.m. have not been identified." Insistence from official quarters that the alarm was real came as hundreds of thousands of citizens who heard and saw the activity spread countless varying stories of the episode. The spectacular anti-aircraft barrage came after the 14th Interceptor Command ordered the blackout when strange craft were reported over the coastline. Powerful searchlights from countless stations stabbed the sky with brilliant probing fingers while anti-aircraft batteries dotted the heavens with beautiful, if sinister, orange bursts of shrapnel.

City Blacked Out For Hours

The city was blacked out from 2:25 to 7:21 am after an earlier yellow alert at 7:18 pm was called off at 10:23 pm. The blackout was in effect from here to the Mexican border and inland to the San Joaquin Valley. No bombs were dropped and no airplanes shot down and, miraculously in terms of the tons of missiles hurled aloft, only two persons were reported wounded by falling shell fragments. Countless thousands of Southland residents, many of whom were late to work because of the traffic tie-up during the blackout, rubbed their eyes sleepily yesterday and agreed that regardless of the question of how "real" the air raid alarm may have been, it was "a great show" and "well worth losing a few hours' sleep." The blackout was not without its casualties, however. A State Guardsman died of a heart attack while driving an ammunition truck, heart failure also accounted for the death of an air raid warden on duty, a woman was killed in a car-truck collision in Arcadia, and a Long Beach policeman was killed in a traffic crash enroute to duty. Much of the firing appeared to come from the vicinity of aircraft plants along the coastal area of Santa Monica, Inglewood, Southwest Los Angeles, and Long Beach.

In its front page editorial, the Times said: "In view of the considerable public excitement and confusion caused by yesterday morning's supposed enemy air raid over this area and its spectacular official accompaniments, it seems to The Times that more specific public information should be forthcoming from government sources on the subject, if only to clarify their own conflicting statements about it."

"According to the Associated Press, Secretary Knox intimated that reports of enemy air activity in the Pacific Coastal Region might be due largely to 'jittery nerves.' Whose nerves, Mr. Knox? The public's or the Army's?"

How do they hear about this? It's called turning off your iPod/Xbox/Chat Room and reading a book.

It's easy to find out which videos are most likely legit. It is the videos with no comments cause the skeptics have no ideas on how to state it's a fraud. I honestly don't understand how people can still think we are the most intelligent life forms when there has been so many sitings. The Earth has only been around for a very small time in comparison to the Universe, etc. Imagine if a liveable planet lightyears away had even 1000 years head start on evolution. Their technology would be way more advanced compared to ours.

Aparently james oberg is so full of his own BULL DROPPINGS that he can not read or his ears are so full of the aforementioned BULL DROPPINGS he cannot hear...Many documentary's on this subject included living eye witness accounts of the Los Angeles event of Feb. 1942. I heard directly from my Mother and Grandmother who were eyewitnesses to the event and they did not describe obergs myth!
It's time we demand that our scientists and "OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT SPOKESPERSONS" dig their heads out of their rectums,

..and FACE THE TRUTH!
Our militayr has no defence against these visitors.
These visitors have not been reported (in the American Press) to be hostile.
In the last 70 years (known as the "MODERN ERA OF THE UFO's") our slick AIR FORCE SPOKESPERSONS hqave drilled it into the american press accounts that UFO's do not pose a NATIONAT THREAT to America...

What could be more dangerous to any country than having the ability to "fly" anywhere on earth, including over military bases (1975 in particular MALMSTROM AFB and all Northern tier SAC commands from Main to Cal.) with TOTAL IMMUNITY??? The "OFFICIAL AIR FORCE" view was that it was an unidentified helicopter!!

Really, i am very confused how to verify these news about UFO. I do not think so they really exist.

To whom it may concern.

I would like to bring to you immidiate attention that I am a real threat. The barrage of weapons used in a pointless attempt to cease proper functionality of my craft in your month of "february" during said year of "1942" did not go without insult. Even we have feelings.

p.s
Your species has yet to be eradicated as we enjoy watching you squirm beneath us.

They are called followers!!! As if they can not be lied to in a book it's all true in those books.its like they are saying I cannot learn by see for myself only through the dead guys that wrote these books can I learn!! Really I say I am human like they were I see thing I think just like they did ! I to can figure shit out with this other guys thoughts! U weak people need to wake up!! This is exactly why the government would not tell us aliens exist ! It's kinda like telling a baby comes from a freaking stork a u believed in it when u were a kid! Remember that? Or something like it! Stop doughting the ones who think for themselves and try it yourselves! Cause believe me like a computer u have been programmed! Here's the proof...WHAT COLOR IS THE SKY... My my Grandparents lived in Los Angeles, CA in 1942. My Grandmother often told my sister and I that the night she went into labor with my Mother, Los Angles was under a black out due to an air raid, she said that as she lay giving birth she could hear the fighter planes flying over the hospital. My mother was born on Feb 25, 1942 in Los Angeles, CA. Both of them have passed away I would have loved to share this information with them, I am sure my grandmother had no idea it was UFO's.

Oberg is a buffoon. Is this the best they can do? We have to pay for this pinhead to lie to us? He even looks funny. He should be Bozo the clowns sidekick or something.

General DeWitt was largely an incompetent nut-case, easily verifiable from historical documents written about him both in 1944 by the American Psychological Association who described him as suffering from "aggravated paranois," General Joseph Stillwell (Vinegar Joe) called him a jackass" and in 1997 by the US Senate indicating he was suffering from 'clinical paranoia." The fly-over was probably american planes disguised as Japanese war planes because they reportedly had the "rising sun" emblazoned on their wings. This from a eye-witness who is alive today who stuck his head out of his window the night of the attack and physically saw the "hinomaru" emblem on the wings of the planes. Further, this crap about not wanting to send up American fighter craft so as to preserve their fuel is just that, bullcrap. They could have simply refueled. The same was reported in San Francisco where DeWitt also did not scramble aircraft and when asked why he replied, "It's none of your damn business!." Read about it in my upcoming book, "Pure Winds, Bright Moon" "The Untold Story of the Stately Steward and his Family Beautiful" and about the tragedy of Pearl Harbor.

U must not think about the craft, for it was real. U must ask urself why los Angeles. The answer to the question on all your minds does not need to be proven but just needs to be trusted.

"TRUST!!"...Hope & Faith!...until
proven differently!..OR..TRUST needs a track record!?

OR..Just cut to the chase!?..Prove it!!!.............?

The bare bones truth about this fake flyover is exposed in a book called Pure Winds Bright Moon. This was the third alleged Japanese enemy plane flyover and the first erroneously connected to ufology. While UFOs do exist I would not hang my hat on this phonus balonus fairy tale.
