Why have NASA never return to the moon?

Very interesting documentary about why NASA hasn't had a trip back the moon on over 36 years !(last in 1972) . I also suggest you search my blog for the nasa airbrushed towers, its very interesting stuff

Good stuff...but isn't there a part 4 to this?

You can put it down to politics, not aliens.

After the "space race" was won in 1969 there was no longer any political will in the US to provide the massive funds necessary for the research, development and running of a manned lunar base.

Only now does the US feel the need to put the foot firmer to the pedal. And that is likely in response to other nations nibbling at their heels.
Left wing politicians are usually opposed to space investment because it removes funding from domestic social programs, thus compounding the problem.

to the anon above:

you clearly still think in terms of the past paradigm.

That's all.

Nr. 2 answer...

Well... as it was said in the movie, the last mission was paid for and ready 2 go, but the dident.

How can u explain that with politics??

LEAX said...

Some about year ago or something was send satelite to make detailed photos of entire moon surface, i forgot name of this satelite and project (probably eden? europa? am not sure) have you any info about that?

2 Lich: i think that those photos with blured-out buildings on the moon are from that mission

Ok i found it, its LUNAR-A & SELENE (2005 - )"
These two Japanese probes are both due to launch in August 2005. LUNAR-A will carry penetrators that will collect seismographic and thermal data from the Moon's interior, which should provide information about its internal structure. SELENE is an orbiter that will map the Moon's surface, as well as measuring the gravitational field of its dark side. " from: http://www.star.le.ac.uk/edu/Probes.shtml (I heard about this project in tv news, and forgot whole names, but am sure it was japan project, so it must be this one. Am courious about "dark side of moon" and these "buildings" and structures somewhere)

Well Lich .. maybe they will show us the photos, maybe not. Its on Japanese goverment if they will or not but as you see this starts the "era of truth about space". Many more countries will have their own probes and they MAYBE wont act like US goverment that only lies...

Yes they will! Check this video (Moving image of the Moon shot by the HDTV camera) from selene orbiter

Also search on web under kaguya/selene, there is many pictures from that orbiter.

Other, future moon expeditions:

Japan has been expanding its space operations and has set a goal of sending an astronaut to the moon by 2020.

India has begun technical discussions with Russia on the joint moon mission Chandrayaan-II which is expected to be launched in 2011-12. Scientists are planning to land a rover on the moon for carrying out chemical analysis of the lunar surface and explore other resources on the earth's natural satellite.
